The sunset at Tenney Park during this engagement session was almost as beautiful as Sarah and Luke’s love. Sunsets are a special part of their story, so we knew it would be extra amazing if we could enjoy one on our session with them! Well, God didn’t disappoint, and Cody and I had such a beautiful time with these two!
Sarah and Luke met while doing mission work overseas, and it didn’t take long before they took interest in one another. The more time they spent serving together, the closer their friendship grew! They began to date while working abroad, but unfortunately Sarah had to return home in March leaving an ocean between them. Sarah and Luke didn’t let the distance bring them down, and they talked for over an hour on the phone most days they spent apart. In July, Luke flew to Madison to be with Sarah and meet her family. Little did Sarah know, he also had a surprise prepared. In the weeks prior to his trip, Luke spoke with Sarah’s sister to help plan and arrange his proposal. They chose decorations, candles, and a location that were all very special to Sarah and the plan was set!
On the day of the proposal, Luke’s mom asked Sarah to show her around her hometown to buy some time for Luke and the family to prepare for the proposal! At Sarah’s parent’s house everyone was preparing the backyard and dock for Luke’s proposal. When Sarah returned to the house and saw the decorations, a beautiful sunset was filling the sky with color and warmth. Amidst all the thoughtfulness Luke incorporated, the most significant detail was proposing at sunset because Sarah absolutely loves sunsets! They headed out to the dock and Luke read a passage from Ephesians and then asked Sarah to marry him. Sarah said it was the perfect celebration- On the dock the proposal felt intimate and private to her, but afterwards their families were all there to celebrate with them!
The weather was perfect for their Madison engagement session! We started downtown around the Memorial Union and ended at Tenney Park. The night ended with the prettiest red-orange sunset over the lake. When Cody and I asked these two to try a few wilder poses, they were adventurous and full of laughter! They had a lot of fun dancing to Ben Rector under the glow of the sunset through the trees. Enjoy our favorites from their Tenney Park engagement session!
Sarah + Luke, we are beyond blessed that you have chosen us to be your wedding photographers! We love the love you share, and we know it will only continue to grow and deepen as you continue on in this season of engagement. Cody and I can’t wait to celebrate with you both so soon when you say “I do!”
